Studio Woo online shop faqs
Hi there! Thanks for visiting this page, where we hope to answer most of your questions about our online shop and products. If you don’t find your question on this page, then please do get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to provide answers.
If you have questions about our Services (illustration, graphic harvesting, infographic development, live caricature drawing and more) please go to the Studio FAQ page.
Do you provide a framing service?
The only framed product we supply is the Caricature Framed Special.
We don’t provide a framing service for any other products as we find that most customers prefer to make their own framing arrangements. We also can’t guarantee the availability of framing stock and prices and and don’t want to disappoint our customers. In addition products sent via courier are best framed at the customer end due to glass and frames being vulnerable during postage.
We have endeavored to supply all our products in standard sizes so that they will fit off-the-shelf frames, making finding a frame much easier.
If you’re in Cape Town, we recommend buying ready-made frames from Orms, or any home decor store, or at our preferred framer El Shaddai Picture Framers, Costa Da Gama, Muizenberg (021 788 8506). If you’ve previously purchased framed poster art from us and want to match existing frames, these can be obtained from El Shaddai Picture Framers.
What are your shipping costs for caricatures?
We charge a flat rate for all caricatures, depending on how they are delivered.
Printed caricatures – courier delivery R65
Printed caricatures – local pickup R35 handling fee
Digital caricatures – electronic delivery R15 handling fee
If you order printed/framed caricatures in large quantities, we reserve the right to adjust the shipping cost and invoice separately.
Are all your shop products in stock?
CARICATURES: These are done on a commission basis. Turn-around time is given for each type of caricature. So, as long as we are available to complete the commission, all of these products are ‘in stock’. In the case of the framed special, we have a minimum of frames on hand and may need to source more for large quantities. We reserve the right to substitute with a similar frame if our supplier is permanently or temporarily out of stock.
PRINTS: We generally have plenty stock of prints. All prints not in stock are available on back order, which takes only 1 extra working day.
VINYLS, STICKERS: We usually have plenty stock of these and this is indicated in the shop per product. Stickers and vinyls are available on back order, which takes only 1 extra working day.
GIFT CARDS: This product line is currently being phased out and several items are on sale. When stocks run out they will be finished! The range is available at most Exclusive Books outlets.
BOOKS: Our sketch books are a limited edition so we have stock until the edition runs out. There is no option of back orders.
Can I collect my order from your studio?
Yes you can collect from us in Muizenberg, Cape Town. Select this delivery method when adding products to your order. We charge a small handling fee for collection. This is added once for the whole order, not per product.
The street address will be provided by email. We would love to meet you and always appreciate a chat with our customers.
Collection can be at any hour or day of the week, on the same day, or as soon as your order can be prepared for you. We only ask that collection be by prearranged appointment as we are not always available without notice.
How will my parcel be delivered?
Parcels are securely wrapped for our door-to-door courier service.
We use Fastway couriers who deliver to all main centers in South Africa. Delivery times are 1-2 days for Cape Town and the greater Western Cape area. Most other places in South Africa are 2-3 days.
If you’re not in a main centre or Fastway does not deliver to your area, we will use the postal service to your nearest postal counter. This takes 3-5 working days.
In either case you will be given the tracking number and can track your parcel via Fastway’s or SAPO’s websites. |www.fastway.co.za|www.sapo.co.za|
Please note: We cannot take responsibility for parcels once they are within the postal system & will not be liable for loss or damage incurred during shipping. Fastway parcels are insured up to amounts of R1000. Please let us know in advance if you want to increase this insurance or insure a parcel going via the SAPO.

Please don’t draw my big nose/double chin/wrinkles/give me more hair etc.
Pete deliberately draws flattering, semi-realistic caricatures of all ages that make his older subjects look younger. If there is something particular you’d like him to add or ignore, please just let him know.
What makes a good photo to use for a caricature portrait?
The better the photo the better the portrait! The most pleasing results come from:
- Sending us one or two well-chosen photos.
- Up to date photos, taken within the last 3 months.
- The person’s current hairstyle should be the one in the photo.
- We need high res, full colour photos.
- There must be good light on the person’s face and nothing obscuring the face.
- Send us a smiling face if you want a smiling a portrait, and avoid pulling funny faces, unless that’s what you want.
- Be aware of accessories e.g. hat, jewellery, glasses. If they’re in the pic they will be in the portrait, unless you ask us to leave them out.
You are responsible for sending the best photos. Pete will assess them and may request additional ones. Once the portrait is finished, it is too late to send a better photo unless you are prepared to pay for a redo.
What can I use my caricature portrait for?
You can:
- Use it on your birthday or wedding invitation
- Use it to commemorate a special occasion, such as a 70th birthday
- Give it as a gift to someone else
- Place it on your website or incorporate it into your brand
- Use it as a memorable profile pic on social media
- Have a playful and imaginative re-interpretation of yourself
- Get the whole family done
- Use it in advertising and marketing
The only things you CAN’T do is alter the artwork, remove the signature or claim it as your own, of course!
What size can I print my caricature portrait?
This applies to digital caricatures only.
When you order a digital caricature portrait (Caricature Head & Shoulders or Caricature Full Body with Props) the option for digital delivery will be available. This means you will do your own printing after we deliver. So how big can you go? The artwork is done at A3 size (297 x 420 mm) and can be printed up to A2 size (420 x 594 mm).
Whenever we print for you (optional) we do so at the original A3 size. This is because our packaging and postage is suited to A3 only.
The Caricature Framed Special and Caricature with Traditional Inks come already printed.
What medium do you work in for caricatures?
Two mediums are available when ordering caricature products in our shop.
- Traditional ink drawings – Black and Grey tone inks rendered with brush pens on white paper.
There is a single choice:
